Young Swan Portrait
I will continue to post some photos and make some explanations regarding how I shot them, will try to do this once a week :)
This is a picture of a young Swan, it was shot at a local lake after an afternoon of photographing. The main objective was to get some good photos of some Gray herons (soon to be published). After a lenghty walk around and a good amount of photography me and my friend sat down to have a break, at this time some young swans swam up where we were sitting and started to polish their feathers.
I started to take some photographies in the hope of getting some nice photos with the swans in an unusual position, just to get something different, which is the challenge! Many photos of animals are in a common position and nothing much else to it, which makes for quite run of the mill basic photos.
He/She finally adopted this stance which I quite like, especially the negative space between the neck and the body, I also quite like the way the feathers look on the neck, so this was the one I choose out of a bunch of photos.
The things that I feel that could be improved is the space around the Swan, it would benefit from it. The white part of the body feels a bit over exposed and it would be nice with some more details there as well, else I'm quite satisfied with it!
